FCL or LCL for Roofing Felt Imports?
For roofing felt, FCL and LCL are different handling and cost arrangements, not simply large and small versions of the same shipment. Compare the complete route for the quantity you intend to buy.

Understand what is being consolidated
An FCL booking uses a container shipment arrangement; it does not guarantee the container is physically full. LCL combines cargo with other consignments and normally introduces consolidation handling.
Ask how your rolls will be received, packed, transferred and identified. The practical route matters more than the abbreviation.
Compare the total logistics amount per roll
A smaller LCL shipment can carry fixed handling and destination charges across relatively few rolls. A full-container arrangement may still be uneconomic if the purchase is far beyond your demand.
Obtain actual quotations with the same origin, destination, cargo dimensions and mass. Do not use a generic freight rate as a buying decision.

Confirm packing and receiving requirements
Discuss protection against handling damage and how mixed items remain identifiable. Ask the warehouse or forwarder about any pallet or packing requirements before approving the order.
Merily can provide the product and loading information needed for the enquiry. Confirm the available packing arrangement and its effect on saleable quantity.
Put it in your buying record
| Factor | FCL enquiry | LCL enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Quantity | Container loading plan | Cargo volume and handling unit |
| Charges | Whole booking scope | Consolidation and local fees |
| Handling | Loading and destination unloading | Transfers and identification |
| Stock | Order size against demand | Cost of smaller replenishment |
Questions buyers ask
Is FCL always cheaper per roll?
Not automatically. Compare actual charges, loading quantity and your inventory requirements.
Can LCL suit a trial order?
It may, if available packing, handling and complete costs are acceptable.
What should I ask the forwarder?
Request the full origin-to-destination scope, cargo requirements and excluded charges for your proposed quantity.
