Pre-Shipment Roofing Felt Inspection: A Buyer’s Checklist
Organize product, dimensions, weighing, wrapping and loading records before an asphalt roofing felt shipment.

Inspect against the order, not a general product name
An inspection should begin with the approved order specification. Place the product code, roll dimensions, mass definition, surface and packing requirements in the inspection record before examining the shipment.
This is particularly useful when an order includes several roll formats. Clear identification helps the inspector connect each checked unit to the correct specification and quantity.
Organize product and packing checks
Review the material appearance, roll condition and winding against the approved reference. Check the required dimensions and mass using the agreed methods. Record results rather than relying solely on photographs.
Inspect printed wrapping, product codes, dimensions on labels and roll-end packing. If the order uses private-label artwork, compare the production wrapping with the approved version.
Use photographs that support the record
Useful views include the sheet detail, roll end, complete wrapped unit, label panel, stock arrangement and loading sequence. Give photographs product references so they remain meaningful after the shipment leaves.
A photograph of a measurement is supporting evidence for that check. It does not replace the whole inspection record or establish unrelated performance characteristics.
Close the loop before loading
Reconcile the checked product references with the packing list and planned quantities. Record how any identified discrepancy was resolved and confirm which units are ready for shipment.
Merily’s export supply work includes product and loading-photo coordination. State your inspection and documentation requirements with the inquiry so they can be included in the order preparation.
