Checking Payload Limits Before Loading Roofing Felt
A preliminary roll count is not permission to ship that weight. Check the actual container, carrier acceptance and inland transport limits before fixing a roofing felt loading plan.

Calculate the mass on the right basis
Multiply rolls by the agreed packed mass, then include any packing materials not already counted. Keep gross cargo mass separate from container tare.
If a quotation gives approximate roll mass, explain the uncertainty to the forwarder. A narrow margin should not be hidden by rounding.
Check all parts of the route
The container’s equipment limit is one constraint. Origin transport, port rules, carrier conditions and destination road movements may introduce others.
Maersk’s published guidance notes that cargo limits depend on container type and size and advises checking local requirements. Your actual shipment needs its own confirmation.

Confirm the final quantity before loading closes
Reconcile the planned count with the actual packed cargo. If the proposed mix changes, recalculate the mass. Ask the carrier or forwarder about required weighing and shipment documentation.
Merily can prepare an approximate loading plan for the selected specification. Final acceptance remains tied to the actual equipment, cargo and route.
Put it in your buying record
| Check | Responsible information source | Record |
|---|---|---|
| Packed roll mass | Approved product and packing | Mass basis |
| Equipment capacity | Actual container details | Container reference |
| Route acceptance | Carrier and inland operators | Confirmed limit |
| Final cargo | Loading and required weighing record | Count and mass reconciliation |
Questions buyers ask
Can I use the same load for every destination?
Do not assume so. Check the actual route and equipment.
Does container volume establish the safe load?
No. Weight constraints must be checked independently.
What changes require recalculation?
Different roll mass, count, packing, mixed items or equipment can change the result.
