Unrolling Roofing Felt to Check Tears, Creases and Winding Damage

Opening a roll can reveal damage hidden by the wrapper. Use a controlled visual check to distinguish tears, creases and winding-related problems, without turning a visual observation into a performance test.

Identify the sample before opening

Record the roll reference and photograph the packing and ends first. Note visible handling damage before removing the wrapper.

This helps distinguish an observation at receipt from something that occurred during the inspection itself.

Observe the sheet while it unwinds

Record visible tears, pronounced folds, edge irregularities and the location of any difficulty. Keep the method and conditions clear.

Do not force a difficult roll merely to complete the inspection. Stop, retain the affected section and discuss the appropriate review with the supplier.

Describe the observation precisely

A crease is not automatically proof of an entire batch defect, and a sheet that looks sound is not proof of tested strength. Define what was observed and how much material was checked.

Send Merily the item reference, overall photographs and a close-up of the issue. A useful record supports a practical discussion instead of a conclusion based on one cropped image.

Questions buyers ask

Does easy unwinding prove compliance?

No. It is a handling observation, not a substitute for required laboratory tests.

Should we pull harder if layers resist?

Avoid creating further damage. Record the condition and seek an appropriate review.

What makes a useful video?

Show the roll identity, the opening sequence and the point where the observation occurs.
