Decode Compound Base Mat Mesh Designations Before Comparing Grades
Keep mesh designation, construction type and basis weight together. A short code such as 7×7 does not provide enough information to substitute one composite reinforcement for another.

Read the full construction label
The published standard group lists 4×4, 5×5, 6×6 and 7×7. The Leno group lists 7×7, 8×8 and 9×9. The repeated 7×7 designation is a reason to retain the construction type.
The current source does not establish the dimensional convention behind every mesh code. Ask for that definition if spacing or count is needed for acceptance; do not invent a millimetre or per-inch unit.
Keep the corresponding weight visible
Standard grades correspond to 90, 100, 110 and 120 g/m² in the listed sequence. Leno grades correspond to 130, 140 and 180 g/m².
These are compound-mat grades. The 130 g/m² entry does not mean 130 g/m² is offered in the continuous-filament polyester range, where that weight is excluded.
Published construction and weight pairs
On a phone, swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Construction | Designation | Weight grade |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 4×4 / 5×5 / 6×6 / 7×7 | 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 g/m² |
| Leno | 7×7 / 8×8 / 9×9 | 130 / 140 / 180 g/m² |
| Code interpretation | Confirm count / spacing convention | Do not assign an unverified unit |

Check the technical rows for that column
Use the selected construction’s directional tensile, tear and elongation requirements. Do not move the weight from one column beside the strength from another.
A supplier comparison should preserve the complete grade definition. If a competing offer uses a different code convention, compare the actual construction and requirements rather than the code alone.
Confirm the purchase description
Send Merily the construction type, mesh designation, weight grade, width and required format. Include a sample or drawing if it defines the structure you need.
State any required dimensional convention or test method in the RFQ. This prevents a shorthand construction label from becoming an ambiguous purchase order.
Questions for This Purchase
Is standard 7×7 identical to Leno 7×7?
Keep the construction type; the listed grades differ.
Can I assume the codes are millimetres?
Confirm the code convention before using a unit.
Does compound mat’s 130 g/m² apply to polyester supply?
No. The two product ranges have separate grade lists.
