Specify Composite Reinforcement Mesh Without Losing the Construction Detail

A mesh label is useful only when the supplier and buyer interpret it the same way. Keep the model, construction description and corresponding composite grade together; ask for the measurement convention where needed instead of guessing from a photograph.

Separate the label from the measurement basis

A composite reinforcement may be identified by a model such as 4×4 or 7×7. When preparing an order, confirm what that model denotes in the supplier specification. Do not silently add a spacing unit or a thread-count convention that the source document does not state.

A clear close-up can support the identification of the actual scrim structure. Keep a scale or the agreed sample reference with your own measurement record if dimensions are part of acceptance. A product photograph alone does not define the agreed mesh tolerance.

Keep the construction family in the name

Merily’s current composite table separates standard 4×4, 5×5, 6×6 and 7×7 models from Leno 7×7, 8×8 and 9×9 models. Leno is part of the construction description, not a word to remove for a shorter purchasing label.

The standard 7×7 column corresponds to 120 g/m², while the Leno 7×7 column corresponds to 130 g/m². Their tensile rows also differ. Preserving the full designation prevents a buyer from treating the two columns as the same item just because the model numbers match.

Preserve the construction distinctions

On a phone, swipe the table sideways to see every column.

Link the mesh to the whole composite grade

The supplied product is not just an isolated mesh description; it is glass scrim bonded with nonwoven. The quotation should identify the actual composite construction and its corresponding basis weight. Keep the agreed technical table attached or referenced.

Ask whether the sample, the quoted grade and the intended production roll all refer to that same construction. If an alternative is proposed, list what changes rather than carrying over a previous approval without explanation.

Build a concise confirmation record

Your record should contain the model name, structure, basis weight, required width and any mesh-related measurement or tolerance that matters to your factory. Add the sample reference and agreed inspection basis where applicable.

Send those details to Merily with the roll format and quantity. A specific construction request supports a useful quotation; a bare request for “stronger mesh mat” leaves the properties and supply unit unresolved.

Questions for This Purchase

Does 4×4 automatically tell me a spacing in millimetres?

Do not assume a unit that is not stated. Confirm the model convention and any required measurement basis.

Can I omit Leno from the purchase order?

Keep it when it identifies the selected construction. Omitting it can make the grade ambiguous.

Is a mesh photograph enough for acceptance?

Use the agreed construction specification, sample reference and inspection basis as well as photographs.
