Compound Base Mat Is Not Finished Asphalt Roofing Felt

Buy compound base mat for membrane manufacture; buy finished asphalt roofing felt for the relevant finished-material supply requirement. A roll shape does not make these two products interchangeable.

Identify what arrives at your factory

Compound base mat is a reinforcement material combining glass scrim and nonwoven. Its purchasing specification describes the selected construction, weight grade and roll format.

Merily’s paper-based asphalt roofing felt is made with absorbent base paper impregnated and coated with petroleum asphalt, with surface separation material. It is a different product family.

Match the purchasing task

A membrane manufacturer looking for reinforcement needs the raw-mat construction and the requirements relevant to its process. An importer buying finished paper-based felt needs its finished-roll specifications, packaging and shipment plan.

Do not use a finished-felt label or packing photograph as identification of the raw compound mat. Keep the intended use explicit when sending an inquiry.

Compare relevant specifications

Compound mat is selected by the actual reinforcement grade and technical requirements. The raw material still needs evaluation in the buyer’s intended membrane construction.

Finished roofing-felt roll length and mass do not establish the corresponding compound-mat grade. Nor does the raw mat’s tensile requirement certify the final coated product.

Send the right sample and description

For compound mat, provide the desired construction, basis weight, width, roll limits and membrane use. If you have an approved sample, identify it for comparison.

For finished paper-based felt, state the finished roll dimensions, mass, packaging and destination. Merily supplies both categories, so a precise description helps route your inquiry correctly.

Questions for This Purchase

Are all black rolls roofing felt?

Identify construction and intended use; colour alone is insufficient.

Can finished-felt roll mass define a compound-mat grade?

No. They are separate product specifications.

Which sample should a membrane factory send?

An identified sample of the reinforcement it needs to evaluate.
