Evaluate HDPE Facing with the Intended Membrane Interface

Identify the materials in contact and the evaluation your membrane needs. A facing-film approval should connect the actual HDPE grade to your membrane construction, not just to a general claim that the film is strong or thick.

Describe the interface

State where the HDPE film sits in the membrane and what it contacts during manufacture and in the intended construction. Identify whether the project concerns SBS bituminous membrane, self-adhesive membrane or another specifically agreed duty.

Keep the facing separate from any removable release liner. If a film is intended to remain as the facing, do not describe the required interface using only the release-force requirement of a liner that is later removed.

Identify the quoted material

Include gauge, width, construction and the relevant surface requirement. Merily’s common HDPE facing gauges are 100/150 μm, with common widths of 960/980/1000/1040 mm. Confirm the exact grade and any required tolerance in the offer.

If the candidate is an alternative to cross-laminated film, keep the existing and proposed structures identified separately. The polymer name HDPE does not establish that their mechanical or interface performance is equivalent.

Define the evaluation before comparing results

Record the membrane or contacting material reference, preparation and relevant process conditions. If a test result is needed, retain its method, units and conditions with the sample identity. The term “good bonding” needs a defined basis if it is to become an acceptance requirement.

Keep the stage of the observation clear. An initial observation and a result after specified conditioning are not automatically the same evaluation. Do not assign one universal acceptance value to every possible membrane construction.

Carry approval into the supply order

Link the approved sample and specification revision to the quotation. Include the actual roll configuration and packing requirements so the production trial and the delivered material remain connected.

Send Merily the existing facing specification, the membrane interface and the required evaluation information. We can discuss the selected grade and supply format while the actual membrane performance is confirmed against your agreed requirements.

Questions for This Purchase

Is liner release force the same requirement as a facing interface?

No. Identify the actual function and materials in contact.

Can film thickness alone prove interface suitability?

No. Use the selected construction and the relevant membrane evaluation.

What should accompany an alternative-facing request?

The existing specification, proposed duty, required properties and the actual production-roll format.
