Buying Thin PE Surface Film for SBS Membrane Production
For thin PE surface film, start with the membrane layer and the production format—not the broad phrase “SBS film”. Merily’s listed thin PE range is 7–15 μm, with 8 and 12 μm commonly selected. Keep this product separate from release film and thick HDPE facing.

Name the function before requesting a quote
Tell us where the film sits in the membrane construction and what your process requires it to do. Thin surface or separation film, a removable adhesive liner and a thicker structural facing are different purchasing items. A photograph of the current material and a labelled sample help make the distinction clear.
Our thin PE surface-film page lists plain or printed appearance and a width range of 1050–1100 mm. State whether the quotation should match an existing design or a new requirement. Printed appearance does not by itself define the performance of the selected film grade.
Specify the dimension set, not just the gauge
Include nominal thickness, required width, tolerance, core and the roll length or maximum roll weight. Add the winding requirement and any handling limit your unwinder imposes. This lets the supply configuration be checked before a price is compared.
The listed technical reference is 12±1 μm with width 1080±10 mm. Its published reference values are not a blanket specification for every thickness in the product range. If you order 8 μm or another width, confirm the actual agreed requirements rather than copying the reference table unchanged.

Use the area calculation for order planning
Using the approved PE material planning reference, 8 μm film gives about 135 m²/kg. At 1050 mm width that is about 128.6 linear metres/kg, or about 125 linear metres/kg at 1080 mm. These figures describe film material, not a wrapped pallet or a guaranteed net yield after production loss.
For a quoted roll around 50 kg, multiply by the relevant area-per-kilogram reference to estimate the film area. Keep the actual net film weight distinct from the core and packaging. Ask for the final roll configuration in the quotation, not just an approximate roll count.
Confirm packing with the actual shipment
A common thin-film planning arrangement is 16 rolls of about 50 kg, or roughly 800 kg of film per pallet. Our container planning reference is 20 pallets in a 20 ft container, about 16 t net film; or 35 pallets in a 40 ft container, about 28 t net film. Gross weight and route limits still need checking for the actual booking.
Send the specification, quantity and destination to Merily for a combined material-and-packing quotation. Standard raw-material production is generally planned around 10 days for a large-container order; custom requirements may be around 10–15 days, with the schedule confirmed after specifications are agreed.
Questions for This Purchase
Is SBS film the same as PE release film?
Not automatically. Identify whether the film is a surface layer or a removable liner protecting adhesive.
Can I apply the 12 μm reference values to every gauge?
No. Confirm the technical requirements for the grade you actually order.
Is 28 t the permitted gross weight for every route?
No. It is a net-film planning reference. Confirm gross weight, pallet layout and carrier or route limits.

Tell us what you produce, the material you need and your required roll format. Include the quantity and destination port so we can prepare the product and packing details together.
Useful details: thickness or basis weight, width, roll length or weight, core, quantity and application. For release film, add coated side and release requirements.
Standard production: approximately 10 days for one 40-ft container order. Customized specifications: approximately 10–15 days. Confirm the schedule with the final order.
