Read Thin PE Surface-Film Tensile Data with Its Reference Gauge

A tensile value is useful when the grade, direction and specimen basis stay attached to it. For thin PE surface film, compare the stated reference construction rather than borrowing a stronger-looking number from thicker HDPE or another product family.

Identify the exact reference

Merily’s current thin PE surface-film technical reference is 12±1 μm and 1080±10 mm wide. Its published maximum-force values are 14 N/50 mm MD and 10 N/50 mm TD. The matching elongation-at-break values are 162% MD and 254% TD.

These rows describe the stated thin PE reference. The product’s supply range of 7–15 μm is a separate statement. It does not make the same mechanical values applicable to every offered gauge.

Retain directions and units

MD is machine direction and TD is transverse direction in the published table. Keep both directions visible in your purchasing comparison. Omitting the direction makes a pair of different reported requirements look like one ambiguous strength number.

Also retain theN/50 mm specimen basis. A force value is not the same item as elongation expressed as a percentage. Put the two properties in separate rows so the quotation and technical review use the same definitions.

Compare requirements before ranking offers

Ask for the applicable method, conditions and material identity when evaluating another supplier’s data. If those details differ or are absent, record the gap. Do not create a ranking by lining up printed numbers whose measurement basis has not been checked.

If your production team requires a particular mechanical limit for another gauge, include it in the RFQ. Ask for confirmation against the offered grade rather than presenting an interpolated value as an approved result.

Connect the data to the order

Specify the actual gauge, slit width, core, winding and roll length or maximum weight. Include the technical requirement your factory needs and the intended membrane layer. A sample approval should reference that complete configuration.

Send Merily the current film specification and required properties with the quantity and destination. We can quote the selected thin PE format while keeping its technical scope separate from thick HDPE facing and heat-shrink packaging grades.

Questions for This Purchase

Can I apply these figures to 8 μm film automatically?

No. Confirm the requirements for the actual selected gauge.

Is a value inN/50 mm a percentage?

No. Keep the force unit separate from elongation expressed as a percentage.

Can thick HDPE data fill a missing thin PE value?

Use data confirmed for the actual material and grade, not a different product family.
