HDPE Membrane Facing or Shrink Wrap? Keep the Duties Separate
A film used as part of a membrane and a film used to wrap the finished roll are different purchase decisions. Identify which duty you need before comparing gauge, width or kilogram price.

Describe the finished-product position
A facing is selected for a role in the membrane construction. A wrapping film surrounds the finished roll as packaging. Keep those positions clear in the inquiry and in the sample discussion.
Merily’s HDPE page includes common 100/150 μm facing options and a separate 50 μm option commonly used for heat-shrink wrapping. The availability of both on one page is not a statement that the same grade performs both duties without confirmation.
Ask the right question for each duty
For a facing, identify the membrane structure, material contact and relevant performance requirements. Where evaluating an alternative to cross-laminated film, compare the actual grade data and trial result for the intended membrane.
For wrapping, describe the finished-roll dimensions and the packaging process. State the required appearance and handling outcome, and ask for confirmation of the selected wrapping grade. Do not substitute a membrane-facing requirement for a packaging trial.
Facing and wrapping are different checks
On a phone, swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Item | Membrane facing | Finished-roll wrapping |
|---|---|---|
| Position | Part of the membrane construction | Packaging around the finished roll |
| Common gauge discussion | 100/150 μm | 50 μm |
| Key input | Membrane construction and performance | Roll dimensions and packaging process |
| Approval | Selected facing-grade evaluation | Selected wrapping-grade trial |
| Shared order fields | Width, core, winding and quantity | Width, core, winding and quantity |

Keep dimensions linked to the chosen grade
Common HDPE facing widths include 960/980/1000/1040 mm. A wrapping inquiry should confirm the width needed by the actual packaging arrangement as well as the gauge, core and roll format.
Use the relevant selected dimensions in quantity calculations. The PE/HDPE material planning reference can estimate film area from gauge and net mass, but it does not prove suitability for either duty or establish packed freight volume.
Compare complete offers
Ask each offer to identify the duty, grade, dimensions, roll configuration and required evaluation. If one price is for facing and another for wrapping, they are not an equivalent material comparison merely because both say HDPE.
Send Merily the application and current sample reference with your target quantity. We can quote the actual supply configuration and confirm which details need a facing evaluation or a wrapping trial.
Questions for This Purchase
Can I order only “HDPE film” and decide the use later?
State the duty before the grade is confirmed so the supplier can quote the intended product.
Does equal polymer identity mean equal performance?
No. The actual grade and intended use need to be confirmed.
Does area per kilogram prove shrink performance?
No. It is a material-quantity reference, not a wrapping-performance result.

Useful details: thickness or basis weight, width, roll length or weight, core, quantity and application. For release film, add coated side and release requirements.
Standard production: approximately 10 days for one 40-ft container order. Customized specifications: approximately 10–15 days. Confirm the schedule with the final order.
