Inspect Metallized PET Surface Damage Without Confusing It with Foil Thickness
Record visible marks on the correct film and face. Surface photographs can support a receiving discussion, but they do not measure the metal layer or establish a performance result.

Identify the film before inspection
Record the metallized PET grade, base thickness, width and roll reference. Common selections are 25 and 36 μm PET base.
Keep this product separate from PET / physical aluminium-foil laminate. A common silver colour is not sufficient identification.
Describe the visible feature
Photograph the relevant face with an overview and a clear closer view. Mark the location across the width and along the accessible roll where appropriate.
Use neutral descriptions such as visible marks or appearance variation before a cause is established. Distinguish protective-wrap damage from a feature on the film.

| Item | Keep |
|---|---|
| Identity | Metallized PET grade and roll reference |
| Face | The inspected surface |
| Location | Width zone and roll / sample position |
| Observation | Description and clear photographs |
| Criterion | Agreed appearance requirement |
| Separate evaluation | Any required adhesion or other technical test |

Use the agreed criterion
Compare against the actual appearance requirement or approved reference. If a quantitative evaluation is needed, retain its method and result separately.
A photograph does not determine physical foil thickness; metallized PET does not use the same physical foil-layer description as the laminate. It also does not prove barrier or adhesion performance.
Retain the order connection
Keep the roll label and sample references with the observation. Record inspection or unwinding steps so later findings remain connected to the original delivery.
Send Merily the selected grade, order identity and relevant photographs for an order-specific discussion. Define any special appearance acceptance in future RFQs before confirmation.
Questions for This Purchase
Can a photograph measure the metallized layer?
No. It documents visible condition.
Should wrapping and film damage be combined?
Identify which component is affected.
What makes the record useful?
Product identity, location, acceptance reference and relevant photographs.
