Evaluate Thin PE Surface Film Under Your Membrane Heating Conditions
The useful question is not “does PE handle heat?” It is whether the quoted thin film performs its intended role in your actual membrane process. Define the layer, relevant exposure and trial observations before requesting a thermal-performance promise.

Begin with the actual film duty
Thin PE surface film, a removable release liner and thick HDPE facing have different purchasing specifications. Identify the material’s position in the membrane and what is expected during processing and use. A generic local name such as “SBS film” does not describe that duty completely.
Merily’s thin PE surface-film range is 7–15 μm, with 8 and 12 μm common formats. These dimensions identify supply options. They do not establish one universal process-temperature limit or make every gauge suitable for every SBS/APP construction.
Describe the relevant exposure
Provide the information your production team actually knows: the process stage, the material in contact with the film, relevant heating conditions and the time or line condition involved. Identify whether a quoted temperature is an equipment setting or a measurement at a particular location.
If a performance problem is being investigated, record where it occurs and what is observed. A roll photograph, the current specification and a labelled affected sample help connect the discussion to the product. Avoid reducing different observations to a single unsupported “heat resistance” rating.
Thermal-duty inquiry record
On a phone, swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Record | Useful description |
|---|---|
| Layerfunction | What the film must do in the membrane |
| Filmidentity | Current material, gauge, width and sample |
| Processstage | Where the material encounters the relevant conditions |
| Exposurebasis | Temperature reference and time or line condition |
| Observation | What was actually seen and where |
| Acceptance | Agreed evaluation for the quoted grade |

Make the trial useful for a purchase decision
Before comparing samples, decide which observations matter for the intended layer. Record appearance, line handling and the relevant function separately. Identify the test or evaluation basis where your approval procedure requires one.
Keep changes visible. A different gauge, coating, membrane formulation or process condition may be part of the comparison. Record those inputs so the result is not attributed to the film thickness alone. The agreed trial should reflect the duty your factory is buying for.
Keep the quotation tied to the evaluated grade
The published thin-film technical reference describes a stated 12 μm grade and its reported mechanical values. It is not a thermal certificate for all thin PE film. If your order requires a particular test result, specify the grade and conditions and confirm the applicable documentation.
Send Merily your material position, selected thickness and width, process information, core, winding and requested quantity. We can discuss a defined supply configuration and the sample evaluation needed before the regular production order.
Questions for This Purchase
Is there one temperature rating for every thin PE film?
Do not assume one. Confirm the actual grade, intended function and evaluation conditions.
Can I use release-film data for a thin surface-film order?
Only use data confirmed for the product and duty being ordered; they are different product families.
What should accompany a problem photograph?
The roll or sample identity, material specification, process location and relevant conditions.
Send your specification.
Get a clear material quote.
Tell us what you produce, the material you need and your required roll format. Include the quantity and destination port so we can prepare the product and packing details together.
Useful details: thickness or basis weight, width, roll length or weight, core, quantity and application. For release film, add coated side and release requirements.
Standard production: approximately 10 days for one 40-ft container order. Customized specifications: approximately 10–15 days. Confirm the schedule with the final order.
