Calculate PET Carrier Film Roll Weight Before Fixing a Pallet Target
A 2000 m roll and a 900 kg pallet target do not always fit the same dimensions. Calculate the material first, then confirm the actual roll and pallet arrangement.

Use the PET planning conversion
The current material-volume reference is about 0.71 m³ per tonne for PET. The corresponding approximate area conversion is 710 divided by thickness in μm, giving m²/kg.
At 100 μm this is about 7.1 m²/kg. This material-volume calculation is not the packed shipping volume and excludes the core and packaging.
Calculate the stated roll example
A 1000 mm × 2000 m roll contains 2000 m². Dividing by 7.1 gives approximately 281.7 kg of film, consistent with the rounded 280 kg planning reference.
Do not call this a measured roll weight. Actual material dimensions, mass and packaging need confirmation for the order.
100 μm × 1000 mm planning example
On a phone, swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Calculation | Approximate result |
|---|---|
| Area per kg | 710 ÷ 100 = 7.1 m²/kg |
| 2000 m roll area | 2000 m² |
| Calculated material mass | 2000 ÷ 7.1 = 281.7 kg |
| Rounded roll reference | About 280 kg |
| Four rounded rolls | About 1120 kg before packing |

Check the pallet arithmetic
Four rolls at approximately 280 kg contain approximately 1120 kg of material before the pallet and protection are added. They cannot simultaneously be described as a 900 kg gross pallet.
If a lower pallet target matters, confirm a different roll format or count. Keep the adjusted length and dimensions visible rather than changing only the pallet label.
Send the handling limit with the inquiry
State thickness, width, preferred length, core and the maximum roll or pallet mass your handling system accepts. Merily can discuss the format against those constraints.
Use the confirmed packed dimensions and gross weight for freight planning. The 0.71 m³/t material reference cannot replace the actual packing list.
Questions for This Purchase
Does 0.71 m³/t describe freight volume?
No. It is a material-volume reference.
Can four 280 kg rolls be called a 900 kg pallet?
No. Confirm a different arrangement if that target is needed.
What is excluded from the formula?
The core, protection and pallet.
