Write a Membrane Raw-Material RFQ That Produces Comparable Offers
Put the material function, technical requirement and production roll in the same request. A clear RFQ helps suppliers quote the same purchase, so your team can compare the material and the shipment instead of comparing incomplete kilogram prices.

Lead with what your factory makes
State the membrane type and where the raw material is used. For a self-adhesive product, distinguish the removable liner from the outer facing and internal reinforcement. For SBS/APP production, identify the actual surface-film or reinforcement function.
Then name the requested material family. If you use a local trade name, include a sample photograph and the present specification. This is particularly helpful when terms such as “SBS film”, “polyester mat” or “composite mat” are used loosely across different products.
Choose the specification fields that fit the material
For film, state substrate, gauge, width and the required coating or surface function. A release-film request should identify the coated face, release requirement and evaluation conditions. For reinforcement, state the actual construction, basis weight and required technical properties.
Attach the grade table or specify the requirements and units in the request. Do not leave the supplier to infer a performance specification from a colour or a nominal weight. If an alternative is allowed, ask the offer to identify every material or format change clearly.
A concise RFQ template
On a phone, swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Field | Your input |
|---|---|
| Membrane and layer | Type of membrane and material position |
| Material | Family, construction and existing sample reference |
| Specification | Gauge or basis weight, width and technical requirements |
| Roll | Core, winding, length or weight, handling limits |
| Quantity | Unit and net-material basis |
| Packing and destination | Pallet/loose preference, destination and timing |

Define the roll and shipment
Include the core, winding or unwind direction, and roll length or maximum roll weight. Add any maximum diameter or handling constraint. For packing, state palletized or loose loading where relevant and request actual net/gross weight and packed dimensions.
Keep quantity units clear: kilograms, square metres and rolls are not automatically comparable without the corresponding gauge, width and net-material basis. If you provide a calculated quantity, identify the assumptions and whether core or packaging is excluded.
Ask for a quotation with a clear return format
Give the quantity, destination port or delivery location and required timing. Ask the supplier to identify the proposed grade, selected dimensions, packing arrangement and production schedule in the response. Commercial terms should be confirmed in the actual quotation, not inferred from a general website example.
Send the request through Merily’s material inquiry form or to sales@merilywaterproofing.com. Add your specification and existing sample information so the quotation can connect product selection, production format and shipment planning.
Questions for This Purchase
Should I send only the target price?
Include the required material and supply specification so the supplier can identify what that price would cover.
Can I request an alternative grade in the same RFQ?
Yes. Ask for the alternative to be identified separately with its changed specification and applicable data.
What if I do not know which material name is correct?
Send the membrane application, layer function, current sample photographs and any available specification for identification.
Send your specification.
Get a clear material quote.
Tell us what you produce, the material you need and your required roll format. Include the quantity and destination port so we can prepare the product and packing details together.
Useful details: thickness or basis weight, width, roll length or weight, core, quantity and application. For release film, add coated side and release requirements.
Standard production: approximately 10 days for one 40-ft container order. Customized specifications: approximately 10–15 days. Confirm the schedule with the final order.
